Chief Information Officer Tom O’Neal oversees the clinic’s information services and technology and is the director of medical records. He is passionate about using technology to help clinicians deliver care that changes lives for the better. His accomplishments include leading the clinic’s early transition to a premier electronic medical records system and creating a new focus on privacy and security to protect patient confidentiality and safeguard systems.
Tom joined the clinic as the director of information services in 2005. Previously, Tom served as a senior software engineer for Misys Computer Systems, where he managed a team responsible for the design, engineering, and development of an enterprise-level medical practice management system. During his time with Misys, Tom also served in the U.S. Army National Guard as a helicopter instructor pilot.
Tom earned his bachelor’s degree at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia, and his master of business administration from the University of Phoenix.
Tom is an aviation enthusiast and is licensed to fly both rotary-wing and fixed-wing aircraft. He is married and has one grown son.
