Dr. Ross Smith believes that listening is the key to providing excellent medical care. When meeting new patients, he focuses on hearing their stories from the beginning and closely reviewing their medical history and prior records. By taking the time to have a thorough conversation and perform a complete physical exam, he can narrow in on important details, avoid unnecessary testing, and reach a diagnosis faster. He enjoys treating patients over the long term and watching them improve.
Dr. Smith appreciates all areas of neurology, but is particularly interested in neuromuscular medicine, a subspecialty that deals with diseases of the peripheral nerves, neuromuscular junctions, and muscles.
Dr. Ross Smith earned a doctor of medicine from the University of Nebraska Medical Center. He completed an internal medicine and neurology residency at the University of Utah Hospital in Salt Lake City. He also holds a juris doctor from the University of Michigan Law School, and a bachelor of science in chemistry from the University of Michigan.
Prior to becoming a physician, Dr. Smith was a trusts and estates lawyer. He is married and spends his free time powerlifiting, training for strongman competitions, and going white-water kayaking.
