Chief Executive Officer Mark Mantei creates a culture where clinicians and staff put patient care first. The son of a Lutheran minister, Mark makes service to others the heart of his leadership approach. He believes that when employees work together well—much like a championship sports team—it creates a positive experience for them and for patients.
Mark brings nearly 40 years of experience in physician group practice and hospital leadership to Vancouver Clinic. He has a proven track record of profitably growing organizations through teamwork, attention to quality, physician relations, and disciplined strategy execution.
In his previous position as chief operating officer for The Everett Clinic, Mark led strategic operations and helped grow the clinic from 50 to nearly 500 clinicians. Likewise, at Vancouver Clinic, he has overseen significant expansions that bring vital services to the growing Northwest community. Under his leadership, the clinic opened a state-of-the-art outpatient surgery center and extended-hours urgent care and created partnerships that allow physicians to better serve older adults with complex medical conditions.
He helped bring the American Heart Association’s Heart & Stroke Walk to Vancouver, Washington, and has been instrumental in local fundraising for the nonprofit. Mark serves on multiple boards in the health care field and his community, including Identity Clark County and the Association of Washington Business. Mark is a member of the Executive Committee of America’s Physician Groups. He is the past chair of the American Medical Group Association (AMGA) Public Policy Committee and recently completed a term of service on the AMGA Board of Trustees. He has been published in numerous journals and speaks frequently at national conferences.
Mark holds a master’s degree in healthcare administration and management and a bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, and finance from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan. In his free time, Mark enjoys rooting for the Portland Trail Blazers and spending time with his wife and three grown daughters.
