The ancient wisdom of Midwifery, backed by modern support, makes us your birth home.

What is Midwifery?

For more than a quarter century, midwives have provided compassionate, comprehensive maternity care at The Vancouver Clinic. As companions, they are with you throughout your journey toward motherhood, bringing respect, diligence, and expertise to your experience. A certified nurse midwife is your birth advocate—hands that hold you when you need them, eyes that see you, and ears that truly hear.

How We Are Different

Here, Midwifery care occurs within our OB/GYN Department. When necessary, our midwives work alongside board-certified obstetricians to bring you the best of ancient wisdom and modern care.

Our midwives also provide instruction in mother and infant care, nutrition, exercise, and breast- feeding, and offer advice on family-related issues as well, from birth control, to introducing siblings to your new baby, to helping you understand what you can expect in the first days, weeks and months with your newborn. Visit our CenteringPregnancy page to learn more about our collaborative care model for mothers-to-be.

Midwifery is a sub-specialty of our OB/GYN & Women’s Health department.
