While the versatility required by hospital medicine doctors attracted her to the specialty, she has specific interests in sepsis management, acute and chronic heart and lung conditions, and palliative care. She is also interested in improving acute care settings.
Dr. Schims earned a bachelor of science in biology and physiology at the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington. She graduated with a master of science in medical sciences from Mississippi College in Clinton, Mississippi. From there she earned a doctor of osteopathic medicine at Western University of Health Sciences in Lebanon, Oregon.
