Dr. Valerie Weiss helps children and adolescents make healthy lifestyle changes to prevent or reverse obesity. As head of the clinic’s Pediatric Wellness Program, Dr. Weiss is passionate about giving patients the tools to avoid future health complications, improve their self-esteem, and feel good about their body. She recognizes that obesity is a chronic, treatable disease, and believes that patients and their families should be offered compassion and ongoing support as they work toward better health.
A pediatrician with more than 20 years of experience, Dr. Weiss is board certified in pediatrics and obesity medicine and is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Weiss earned a bachelor of science in developmental psychology at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. She earned a doctor of medicine at the University of Colorado in Denver, Colorado, and completed a residency in pediatrics at the University of California Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, California.
On her days off, Dr. Weiss enjoys traveling with her husband and son, growing her own vegetables, and doing Zumba. She also likes watching her son play basketball and listening to him practice the trumpet. She speaks conversational Spanish.
