Dr. Scott Matz delights in caring for patients with the same compassion and thoroughness he would give a family member or loved one. As a provider, he focuses on easing patients’ anxiety by clearly explaining disease processes, treatment options, and his recommended care plan. He believes it’s important to acknowledge the whole person by truly listening to their needs and supporting them with timely results and advice.
While Dr. Matz treats a wide range of urologic problems, he has a special interest in benign prostatic enlargement and kidney cancer. He appreciates that the field of urology is continuing to evolve to include new technologies that improve people’s lives.
Dr. Matz earned a bachelor of science in biology and classics from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. After several years teaching high school science, he continued his education at the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri, graduating with a doctor of medicine. He completed a residency in urology at the University of Missouri.
Dr. Matz spends most of his downtime with his wife and five sons. He also enjoys going fishing, tying flies, reading a good book, and running.
