Rahwa Ghebremichael, MD
Dr. Rahwa Ghebremichael, also known as “Dr. G” by her patients, knew she wanted to be a doctor as early as elementary school. She loved the idea of caring for others and was fascinated by the human body. When several close family members were diagnosed with acute and chronic diseases, and she witnessed their day-to-day challenges first hand, she realized that she wanted to spend her career making sure people had the support they needed to manage their conditions properly.
As a provider, Dr. Ghebremichael considers it a privilege to build relationships with patients and their loved ones, and to support people throughout their life journey. She enjoys getting to know individuals personally so she can better educate, advise, and empower them. She loves being able to learn and laugh with patients, celebrate their successes together, and comfort them when they are ill.
Dr. Ghebremichael focuses on treating the whole person. She believes that wellness includes a patient’s, physical, emotional, social, and spiritual health. She has a special interest in addressing health disparities and inequalities.
Dr. Ghebremichael earned a bachelor of science in biology and a bachelor of arts in comparative studies in race and ethnicity at Stanford University in Stanford, California. She earned a master of public health at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. She earned a doctor of medicine at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, Oregon. She completed her residency in internal medicine at Providence Portland Medical Center in Portland, Oregon. Before becoming a physician, Dr. Ghebremichael was a clinical epidemiologist and infection prevention specialist.
In her free time, Dr. Ghebremichael spends time with her husband, children, and dog. The family loves going to the coast, playing board games, and holding family movie nights. Dr. Ghebremichael also enjoys cycling, hiking, cooking, running, reading, and listening to music. If she wasn’t working in medicine she would want to be a professional photographer and document her travels around the globe.
