Peter Caruana, MD
Dr. Peter Caruana graduated with a doctor of medicine from the University of Virginia School of Medicine in 2011. He completed his residency at the University of Virginia Health System, and a gastroenterology fellowship at the Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
He is a Georgia native, but fell in love with the Pacific Northwest during a Portland-to-San Francisco cycling trip he took while in medical school.
Dr. Caruana takes a patient-centered approach to care. He listens to individuals and their families, educates patients on their diagnosis and treatment options, and encourages them to take an active role in their care plan. He enjoys being able to help people with a wide range of digestive problems, but has a special interest in preventing colon cancer and treating diseases that impact the liver and bile ducts.
During college, Dr. Caruana worked as a medical volunteer at an underserved rural hospital in Tanzania. Today, he and his wife spend their time hiking and playing with their daughter.
