Nicole Behnke, MD
Dr. Nicole Behnke earned her medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School in 2007, and completed her residency in orthopedic surgery at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in California in 2012. Following her residency, she served as a clinical fellow in orthopedic oncology at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. Before coming to the clinic, Dr. Behnke was an assistant professor and the director of medical student education at the University of Alabama Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama.
Prior to medical school, she studied aquatic ecology, environmental toxicology, virology, and immunology at Michigan State University Graduate School. She also holds a bachelor of science in biology from the University of Michigan.
As an orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Behnke takes pride in helping people get back to the best quality of life possible. She enjoys helping others and tailoring treatments to fit each patient’s individual goals. She believes in empowering patients to make the right decisions for their bodies by giving them the information they need about their condition, and fully informing them about the risks and benefits of various options.
Dr. Behnke has a special interest in community trauma and fracture care, skeletal metastatic disease and pathologic fractures, soft-tissue tumors, complex amputations, and megaprostheses and endoprosthetic reconstruction for non-salvageable fractures.
Away from work, Dr. Behnke and her husband spend time with their two energetic and adventurous boys. You can often find them outside exploring the mountains. She also enjoys trail running, hiking, and anything that offers an excuse to get out of the house.
