Namphuong (Nam) Tran, MD
Hospitalist
As a hospitalist, Dr. Nam Tran loves the “wow” moments when patients start feeling better and can appreciate the progress they have made. She considers it a privilege to care for people when they are sick and vulnerable. Dr. Tran focuses on helping patients understand their health issues and treatment plans and leaves lots of time for questions and concerns. Her goal is to build strong, trusting relationships with patients and put them on the path toward healing. She loves involving family members because they can have such a positive impact on the patient’s health.
Dr. Tran treats hospital-based medical problems from the simple to the complex. She has a special interest in diseases of the liver, including autoimmune liver disease, non-alcohol fatty liver disease, and Hepatitis B.
Dr. Tran earned a bachelor of science in biology at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California. She completed a doctor of medicine at Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. From there she completed an internal medicine residency at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco, California. After residency, she finished a clinical research fellowship at the hospital’s Center for Autoimmune Liver Disease.
A bona fide foodie, Dr. Tran loves spending her spare time exploring new restaurants. She is also a lifelong Golden State Warriors fan and a trivia buff. One of her simple pleasures is watching Jeopardy! with her partner. Amazingly, she was struck by lightning when she was 3 years old.
