Family Medicine Physician
Dr. Nalini Velayudhan values the emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual well-being of her patients. As an osteopathically trained family medicine physician, she is passionate about taking a holistic approach to wellness.
Dr. Velayudhan is interested in blending the Western medicine model with Ayurveda, India’s ancient system of medicine. She is open to using many forms of healing to develop a comprehensive treatment plan. She is board certified in family medicine and was previously board certified in addiction medicine.
Dr. Velayudhan earned a bachelor of biological sciences at the University of California, Irvine in Irvine, California. She earned a doctor of osteopathic medicine at Des Moines University in Des Moines, Iowa. She then completed her residency in family medicine at Michigan State University in Garden City, Michigan. From there, she completed her fellowship in addiction medicine at Brighton Hospital in Brighton, Michigan.
Away from medicine, Dr. Velayudhan enjoys staying active by hiking with her husband and two sons, taking long walks with her dog JoJo, and taking Barre3 and yoga classes. She practices mindfulness and loving-kindness meditation to stay connected and compassionate toward herself and others. She has an identical twin who has been one of her biggest cheerleaders on her journey to become a physician.
