Michael Rothenfluch, MD
Psychiatrist
Dr. Michael Rothenfluch considers it an honor to be part of a patient’s journey towards health. As a psychiatrist, he believes in the therapeutic value of telling one’s story in a safe space and feeling heard. He enjoys listening to each individual with empathy and respect.
Dr. Rothenfluch is experienced in adult psychiatry and has a special interest in psychopharmacology. He treats schizophrenia, mood disorders (including depression and bipolar disorder), anxiety disorders (including generalized anxiety and panic disorder), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and substance use disorders.
A native of the Pacific Northwest, Dr. Rothenfluch earned a bachelor of science in biology at the University of Portland in Portland, Oregon. He completed his doctor of medicine at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. From there, he completed a residency in psychiatry at the University of Washington in Seattle and a chief residency at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
Away from medicine, Dr. Rothenfluch enjoys hiking in the Columbia River Gorge and exploring the coast. He is an amateur bird-watcher and photographer. He once traveled to London, England, to study zoology at the London Zoo, and to Salzburg, Austria, where he learned about invertebrates. In medical school, he volunteered in Calcutta, India, where he provided medical care to underserved and unhoused populations. Dr. Rothenfluch maintains a passion for travel and believes that some of the best experiences in life occur when people step slightly outside of their comfort zones.
