Michael Nelson, MD
Dr. Michael Nelson creates a relaxed, comfortable environment for patients and fosters open communication and a true sense of partnership. He enjoys the satisfaction that comes with being able to improve the lives of his patients. He is particularly interested in treating headaches and has found that he is almost always able to help patients with this concern. He has a special place in his heart for patients and families struggling with dementia. When neurological issues have no cure or treatment, he is honored to help guide people through difficult times.
Prior to joining Vancouver Clinic, Dr. Nelson was a neurologist at Providence Health & Services in Portland. He previously owned his own practice and also co-founded an adult family home network designed to provide better options for senior care.
Dr. Nelson graduated with a doctor of medicine from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Medicine. He earned a bachelor of science in biology from the same university. He completed an internal medicine internship and a neurology residency at the University of Washington.
When he’s not treating patients or researching advances in the neurology field, Dr. Nelson enjoys spending time with his two children. He likes working with his hands and constantly has a house project going. His finicky 1960s-era Alfa Romeo also demands plenty of attention.
