Michael E. Kahan, DO
Dr. Michael Kahan believes that there is no greater calling than helping patients live active, pain-free lives. Using a holistic approach to patient care and orthopedic surgery, he enables patients to get back to what they like to do, using the least invasive treatments possible. Dr. Kahan takes the time to educate individuals about current, evidence-based, effective treatment plans so they can make informed decisions.
Dr. Kahan specializes in minimally invasive hip and knee surgeries. These include anterior-approach total hip arthroplasty; bikini-incision total hip arthroplasty; small incision and minimally invasive total knee arthroplasty; robotic-assisted uni-compartmental knee arthroplasty; robotic-assisted total hip and knee arthroplasty; and complex revision arthroplasty. He remains an active member of the academic community and continues to publish peer-reviewed articles on total hip and total knee arthroplasty.
Dr. Kahan earned a bachelor of science in human physiology at the University of Oregon in Eugene, Oregon. He completed his doctor of osteopathic medicine at Western University of Health Sciences in Lebanon, Oregon. From there, he finished a residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Pinnacle in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Following his residency, Dr. Kahan completed the Baltimore Adult Hip and Knee Fellowship through the Rubin Institute for Advanced Orthopedics and the University of Maryland.
Away from medicine, Dr. Kahan takes advantage of the beauty of the Pacific Northwest. He enjoys hiking, boating, golfing, and running with his dog. He and his wife have two boys who keep them very busy. Interesting fact: He is a fraternal twin!
