Michael Conte, DO, MPH
Infectious Disease Physician
Dr. Michael Conte believes nothing is more important than listening to patients. Learning about their backgrounds and daily lives—in addition to their symptoms—is critical to identifying which pathogen is responsible for their illness and developing an effective treatment plan. He enjoys educating people about what is happening in their bodies and how an infection can be eliminated.
Dr. Conte has a special interest in the long-term care of patients with HIV, fungal diseases, post-surgical infections, and antibiotic stewardship. He is also interested in managing infection complications associated with patients with substance use disorders, including injection drug use.
Dr. Conte earned a bachelor of arts in human biology at the University of California, San Diego in La Jolla, California. He completed a doctor of osteopathy and a master of public health at Des Moines University in Des Moines, Iowa. From there, he finished a residency in internal medicine at St. Mary’s Medical Center in San Francisco, California. He completed a fellowship in infectious disease at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, Oregon.
Away from medicine, Dr. Conte enjoys spending time with his wife, who is a postdoctoral researcher. The couple loves to travel internationally and work in their yard. Conte roots for all the San Francisco Bay Area sports teams and enjoys playing a variety of sports himself. He is a Shakespeare buff and hopes to attend the Oregon Shakespeare Festival one day.
