Joseph Root, MD
Dr. Joseph Root’s goal is to acknowledge the inherent strength of each individual while helping improve their quality of life. Because he has a deep appreciation for the mind-body connection, he focuses on caring for the whole person. His special interests include anxiety and mood disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), clinician burnout, and LGBTQIA+ care.
Dr. Root earned bachelor of science degrees in biology and biochemistry at the University of Washington in Seattle. From there, he finished a doctor of medicine at the University of Washington School of Medicine. He completed the University of Washington Psychiatry Residency Program, serving as chief resident in psychiatry at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
Away from medicine, he enjoys practicing yoga and mindfulness, traveling, playing video games, and spending time with family and friends.
