Experience & Training
Dr. Kaan attended Creighton University for her undergraduate education, and then received her medical degree from Des Moines University. She completed her internship and residency at Providence Portland Medical Center. She then served three years in the National Health Service Corps, providing high quality medical services to the underserved population of eastern Puerto Rico, where she became fluent in Spanish. Her special interests include population based healthcare, and the integration of high quality research and alternative medicine.
On a personal note…
Dr. Kaan relies on an open communication style to make shared medical decisions that will support a patient’s individual healthcare goals and are supported by high quality medical evidence. She also believes that humor is important and valuable aspect of our humanity.
Dr. Kaan’s interests outside of medicine include hiking, camping, rock climbing, and adventure of any kind as well as quieter pursuits, such as reading and cooking for friends. She is an animal lover and volunteers for animal welfare organizations in her free time.
