James Bossmann, MD
Psychiatrist
Dr. James Bossmann helps patients manage difficult emotions, heal, and lead healthy lives. He develops close relationships with patients and explores how their history, social circle, emotions, and thought patterns influence their mental wellness. Dr. Bossmann has found that by caring for the whole person he can better guide patients around obstacles and support their recovery. He believes that research-based evidence, clinical expertise, and patient values are all necessary pieces of a thoughtful treatment plan.
Dr. Bossmann sees adults of all ages in his practice. He has special interests in shared decision-making, treatment-resistant anxiety, grief, physician and provider burnout, and psychotherapy.
Dr. Bossmann earned a bachelor of science in biochemistry from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. He completed his doctor of medicine at the University of Texas Health Center at San Antonio. He completed a psychiatry residency at the same institution, caring for patients at multiple hospitals and centers throughout the region. During his residency, Dr. Bossmann volunteered with medical teams managing severe COVID-19 cases. He supported complex medical communications with families, provided updates on their loved ones, and lead family meetings.
In his spare time, Dr. Bossmann enjoys spending time with his wife, trekking into nature, playing card games with friends, and reading fiction and fantasy novels.
