Emily (Xi) Zheng, MD, PhD
Dr. Emily Zheng listens carefully to patients to understand their personal health goals. She recognizes that trust is a vital part of every relationship. As an internist, she focuses on serving older adults with complex medical needs. Dr. Zheng creates individualized care plans with tools and resources that empower patients to manage their well-being. She has a strong interest in preventive care and women’s health.
Dr. Zheng grew up in China among family members who embraced traditional Chinese medicine. Early in life, she witnessed barriers to primary care and decided to pursue a career in Western medicine. Her experiences in Western and integrative medicine have made her an advocate for holistic and preventive care.
After completing her doctor of medicine at Nanjing University in Nanjing, China, Dr. Zheng earned her doctorate in pharmaceutics at the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington. She completed her residency in internal medicine at Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow, New York. She went on to finish a fellowship in preventive medicine with New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical College in New York, New York.
Dr. Zheng earned an advanced certificate in clinical investigation at the Clinical and Translational Science Center at Weill Cornell Medical College. She has received formal honors for her research contributions and is fond of reading analytical papers in her spare time. She speaks English and Mandarin.
Dr. Zheng previously served as a preventive medicine physician in the U.S. Army Reserve. She loves cooking dumplings and spicy food. She is proud to raise her two children in the Pacific Northwest and enjoys figuring out math problems and puzzles with them.
