Donny J. Peterson, MD
Dr. Peterson completed his undergraduate training in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and attended medical school at the University of Minnesota. He completed his general surgery residency at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle in 2007. Dr. Peterson completed a one year cosmetic surgery fellowship at Cosmetic Surgery Affiliates in Oklahoma City in 2009 and had focused his practice on cosmetic surgery until 2013. Since 2013 his practice at the Vancouver Clinic has focused on acute care general surgery, minimally invasive robotic surgery, colectomy, hernia repair, breast reduction and other medically indicated and cosmetic surgery procedures of the body and breasts.
Dr. Peterson’s philosophy in patient care is simple, a well-informed patient will have an easier recovery. Surgical outcomes can be optimized through careful patient evaluation, assessment of overall health, and attention to helping patients understand their indication for surgery and expected recovery. Enhanced recovery programs are used regularly in an effort to minimize risk, reduce narcotic use, and shorten hospital stays.
Dr. Peterson is married to a nurse and has two children. He and his family love adventure; when not at work they are regularly exploring and travelling.
