Derek Simmons, DNP
Derek Simmons enjoys building meaningful and lasting relationships with patients. He has a unique passion for family medicine because of the opportunity to care for entire families and multiple generations.
As a provider, Derek believes that establishing a trusting relationship is the first step in providing excellent care. By understanding the things that are important to each person, including what gives their life meaning and what their long-term health goals are, he can have a conversation about the impact of a treatment or intervention.
Derek finds improving the quality of life of patients who suffer from chronic illness and treating musculoskeletal injuries particularly rewarding. He is a life-long learner with specific interests in anatomy and athletics.
Derek earned a doctor of nursing practice from the University of Portland in Oregon. He also holds a bachelor of science in nursing and a bachelor of science in biology from the same school.
Derek grew up in Battle Ground and is married to his high school sweetheart. He and his wife enjoy spending time with their families, going on walks and hikes with their dog, and taking weekend trips to the beach. He likes to stay active through running, cycling, and resistance training.
