Debra Silberstein, CNM, MSN
Certified Nurse Midwife
Debra Silberstein became a midwife to be able to offer women choices in childbirth. She believes that empowering expecting mothers to make informed decisions about their pregnancy and delivery enhances their self-esteem and allows them to model self-respect to their children.
She has a special interest in gestational diabetes and previously coordinated a specialty clinic addressing the unique medical considerations—such as diet, exercise, and medication management—that affect moms and families dealing with this diagnosis.
Debra earned a master of science in nursing with a specialization in OBGYN and midwifery care from the University of California. She also holds a bachelor of science in nursing from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, and a bachelor of arts in romance languages and Latin American literature from the State University of New York at Binghamton.
Prior to joining the clinic, Debra was the lead midwife at an Atlanta midwifery and gynecology practice that primarily served Hispanic families. She is fluent in Spanish and continues to enjoy working with Latina women.
Debra also served as an adjunct faculty member at Emory University School of Nursing. Before joining the midwifery group, Debra was a nurse practitioner at Atlanta’s Southeastern Gynecologic Oncology, where she cared for cancer patients.
Debra is married and the proud mother of two grown children. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, playing the piano, knitting sweaters, working out at the gym, and visiting with friends and family.
