Cody Wiench, MD
Hospitalist
Dr. Cody Wiench gives patients the information and skills they need to live their best lives outside of the hospital. He enjoys seeing the substantial improvement individuals can make with the right diagnosis, treatment, and education. Dr. Wiench believes in being present for people and truly listening to their stories. When he is with a patient, his entire focus is on what they are saying.
Within hospital medicine, Dr. Wiench has a special interest in congestive heart failure and pneumonia. While common, these diagnoses offer unique challenges that physicians are well-equipped to address.
Dr. Wiench volunteered at a free medical clinic in Lewiston, Idaho, while he was an undergrad at the University of Idaho. The positive experiences he had working with patients inspired him to pursue a future in medicine. After graduating with bachelor of science degrees in biology and microbiology, Dr. Wiench went on to earn a doctor of medicine at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah. He completed a residency in internal medicine at Providence Portland Medical Center in Portland, Oregon.
Away from medicine, Dr. Wiench enjoys hiking, camping, skiing, weightlifting, and mountain biking. He has been to over 35 national parks in the U.S. and Canada. On wet and dreary weekends, he likes to binge-watch Korean dramas and shows such as The Great British Baking Show, The Office, and Parks and Recreation.
