Carol Bunten, MD
Obstetrician / Gynecologist
Dr. Bunten graduated from the University of Iowa College of Medicine in 2000. She completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Oregon Health & Science University. She won a fellowship to study Obstetrics and Gynecology at Queen Mother’s Hospital, Glasgow, Scotland, and has also volunteered at the Verbo Clinic, a missionary-run public health clinic and surgicenter in Cuenca, Ecuador.
Dr. Bunten has interests in vulvar health and family planning, and enjoys all aspects of low & high risk pregnancy care. She has special expertise in complex pelvic surgery, including the use of minimally invasive incontinence and laparoscopic surgery techniques for hysterectomy.
Dr. Bunten enjoys spending time with her husband and children, and exploring the unspoiled natural areas in the Pacific Northwest. “I’m still working on discovering the best work-life balance for me. Regular exercise incorporating pilates, yoga, ballet, and hiking helps, and making music activates the other side of my brain. Traveling, volunteering, trying new recipes, cheering for the Hawkeyes, and spending time with family and friends are some of my other favorite things.”
