Dr. Atish Dey works collaboratively with patients to untangle the complex and nuanced problems that rheumatologic diseases present. Dr. Dey is interested in complementary medicine and loves helping patients incorporate diet, exercise, and lifestyle changes into their plans for health. He stays up-to-date on how these options may impact rheumatologic conditions. He has a specific interest in inflammatory muscle diseases and musculoskeletal ultrasound.
Dr. Dey earned a bachelor of science in mathematics at Maharishi University of Management in Fairfield, Iowa. He completed a bachelor of science in biological chemistry at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa. From there, he earned a doctor of osteopathic medicine at Touro University in Las Vegas, Nevada. He completed a residency in internal medicine at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in Colton, California. He was a chief fellow in rheumatology at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville, Virginia. He is fluent in Hindi and Bengali and conversant in Spanish.
Away from medicine, Dr. Dey enjoys hiking, camping, kayaking, and foraging for wild foods, which he incorporates into traditional Indian cooking. He likes to recreate ancient recipes and once made a recipe that was from 500 BCE. An avid traveler, he has set foot on five continents.
