Andrew Root, MD
Infectious Disease Physician
Dr. Andrew Root believes in creating strong partnerships with his patients so that they feel educated and empowered. He focuses on understanding each person to better deliver the individualized care they deserve.
Dr. Root enjoys the field of infectious diseases because of the excitement, intellectual challenge, and opportunity to interact with a broad range of other medical specialties. Most patients are cured of their infection and recover completely. Others, including those living with HIV, receive life-changing therapy that preserves their health.
Dr. Root grew up in northern Illinois. He completed his undergraduate studies at Illinois Wesleyan University and received his medical degree from Rush Medical College in Chicago. He went on to complete his internship and residency in internal medicine at Tufts Medical Center in Boston and completed a fellowship in infectious diseases at Northwestern University in Chicago.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Root enjoys traveling and exploring the outdoors with his wife and son. He’s become a fan of the Portland Trail Blazers and continues to cheer for his beloved Chicago Bears, Cubs, and Bulls.
