Amee Thomas, MBBS
Internal Medicine Resident
Dr. Amee Thomas is a “people person.” She enjoys getting to know patients and their families personally so that she can deliver exceptional care. She considers trust to be the cornerstone of great relationships. Dr. Thomas takes the time to educate people about their conditions, empowering them to choose the lifestyle modifications and treatment options that will work best for them. She has a special interest in chronic diseases, specifically hypertension and congestive heart failure.
Her mother, who worked as a nurse in Saudi Arabia, inspired Dr. Thomas to enter medicine. Watching her and the hospital’s physicians care for patients left a lasting impression.
Dr. Thomas earned a bachelor of medicine and bachelor of surgery at Kasturba Medical College in Mangalore, India. She then moved to the U.S., where she completed clerkships in family medicine, gastroenterology, and cardiology. She was also a clinical extern at the Free Clinic of Southwest Washington in Vancouver. Most recently, she was an extern physician for a clinic in Silverton, Oregon. Her volunteer experience includes serving as a peer counselor at a pregnancy resource center in Beaverton, Oregon, and coordinating doctors willing to offer free telemedicine consultations for patients in India during its 2021 COVID-19 surge.
Away from medicine, Dr. Thomas enjoys going on road trips with her husband and two kids. She is involved with her church and loves to cook for family and friends. As a child, one of her favorite activities was reading Sherlock Holmes books and trying to solve the mystery before Sherlock could.
