The Importance of Giving Back

Avatar

Clark County: A beautiful place to work, explore and unwind.

When your organization is part of a community like Clark County, taking care of its community members is a necessity. At The Vancouver Clinic, we are committed to public service and sharing our medical expertise with those in need. To fulfill this promise, members of our team give back by working with incredible nonprofit organizations in SW Washington. The Clinic’s Dr. Jens Metzger is one of those team members.

As an internal medicine provider since 2002, Dr. Metzger spends every other Tuesday volunteering his time at the Battle Ground Health Care Clinic (BGHC). Founded in 2011, BGHC provides free chronic medical and dental healthcare to any adult ages 18-64 in need of care. Dr. Metzger volunteers with three other physicians from area healthcare clinics, providing patients with “the tools they need to control their disease.”

“The Battle Ground Health Care Clinic has quickly become a ‘medical home’ for patients in need of access to quality care,” said Dr. Metzger. “More than 80 volunteers run this organization, and each one of them truly cares about bettering our community through healthcare. Volunteering at this clinic has been a greatly rewarding experience.”

To help BGHC continue its invaluable work, The Clinic is sponsoring its annual fundraising breakfast in the fall. The Vancouver Clinic also donated equipment currently being used at BGHC, including patient treatment tables. Other area clinics involved at BGHC include Adventist Health, Legacy Health and Vancouver Radiology.

BGHC is just one example of how The Vancouver Clinic is working to support free healthcare and charitable health initiatives in our communities. Many of our providers also volunteer at the Free Clinic of SW Washington, and we sponsor more than 30 organizations and events per year in Clark County.

Providing and improving quality healthcare means more than just serving our patients. It means collaborating with other local teams and experts to improve the overall health of our exceptional community.
